studies of footage of a starving polar bear. the part that stuck out the most to me, other than there being no human equivalent to whatever emotion it may have been feeling on its face, was the interview that followed it. when the photographer was pressed on why he didn’t help, he responded with something like “nothing i did would have saved it at that point, even if i was carrying a thousand pounds of hamburger in my backpack.”
